"Trust Electric Heating’s MD, Fiona Conor Champions Local Innovation and Sustainability in Backing Britain Campaign"
The West Yorkshire based Sustainable Superheroes, Trust Electric Heating are Backing Britain.
Trust Electric Heating is on a mission to support British industry by delivering energy-efficient heating solutions that embody the best of UK manufacturing. In her recent interview for the Backing Britain campaign, Fiona Conor, Managing Director at Trust Electric Heating, highlighted how the company is “really proud to support UK manufacturing” through their dedication to producing sustainable, locally-designed products. Fiona explained, “We work closely with local suppliers and engineers to develop our products and make sure that the whole process helps British manufacturing.”
Trust Electric Heating’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices runs deep, with Fiona emphasising the company’s focus on cutting-edge, sustainable solutions: “We’re constantly expanding our range of eco-friendly, energy-efficient heaters, and we’re always looking into new technologies like smart heating systems to meet the demand for greener homes.” Beyond product development, the company is invested in “strengthening our ties with the UK manufacturing sector,” working to streamline production while championing sustainability as a cornerstone of their strategy.
Reflecting on the UK manufacturing sector, Fiona acknowledges both the resilience and challenges the industry faces. She noted that despite hurdles like Brexit, the pandemic, and supply chain disruptions, “there’s been a real push for British-made products,” and she’s optimistic about the shift towards local sourcing and high-quality, sustainable manufacturing. However, she cautions that rising costs for materials, energy, and labor present significant obstacles, though “there’s huge opportunities, especially with the move towards decarbonisation.”
In alignment with the Backing Britain initiative, Trust Electric Heating aims to lead by example. For Fiona, Backing Britain is about “supporting local innovation, creating jobs, and promoting sustainable practices.” She sees this as more than just a tagline, explaining, “It means making sure our products are not only designed and made in the UK, but they really reflect British values like quality, durability, and responsibility towards the environment.”
Fiona also supports the idea of a UK Minister for Manufacturing to provide a dedicated voice for the sector: “Manufacturing is a crucial part of the economy, and having a dedicated voice would make sure policies, whether it’s about trade or energy, are in with what the sector needs.” She also calls for enhanced government support for green technology and R&D, saying this could help “secure the UK’s place as a leader in global manufacturing.” However, Fiona cautioned that while the government encourages innovation, challenges remain in commercialising these advancements, especially for SMEs.
Trust Electric Heating’s unwavering commitment to British craftsmanship and sustainable growth epitomises what it means to Back Britain, as Fiona and her team work tirelessly to impact the future of manufacturing positively.
