New jobs for Lesters Logistics as it enjoys ‘3PL’ boost across medical, healthcare and construction
One of the UK’s leading full-service third-party logistics (3PL) providers is on a recruitment drive after increasing its presence in the medical, healthcare and construction sectors.
Lesters Logistics, which is centrally located in a 30,000 sq ft facility in Warwickshire, has increased its workforce by 20% to meet growing demands from clients looking to tap into eCommerce fulfilment, ‘pick and pack’ and storage and distribution services.
The final part of a £510,000 investment drive has also been completed in recent weeks with the installation of a new mezzanine floor. This gives the company the opportunity for more stock to be held on-site, with customers benefiting from faster fulfilment and eliminating the risk of stock-outs for their clients.
Reiss Newport, Director of Lesters Logistics, commented: “The last twelve months has seen revenue increase across all our key markets, and this is being driven by a desire to outsource fulfilment rather than managing it in-house.
“We noticed this trend about three years ago and pivoted from a logistics business to a 3PL provider, investing in new technology, facilities and importantly our workforce.”
He continued: “I can’t stress how important our people are to the business. Yes, automation is being integrated to give us additional efficiencies, but we are ultimately successful because of our team.
“Despite a tough recruitment market, we’ve been successful in attracting some really talented people, who are keen to work in a business that is constantly saying ‘what’s next’. As part of the wider group, there is also the opportunity to work across logistics, warehousing and even packaging solutions.”
Lesters Logistics was born in 2019 after SL Packaging & Transport was bought and successfully turned around by Lesters.
Its location at the heart of the UK’s motorway network makes it an ideal third-party logistics partner for clients in ecommerce, construction, healthcare and manufacturing every year, with its capabilities now featuring value added services like kitting, labelling and returns handling.
The business also plays a critical role in the Lesters Group, adding a supply chain element to an ‘ecosystem’ that stretches from design and manufacture of bespoke packaging to fulfilment services anywhere in the UK and, increasingly, Europe.
Reiss went on to add: “The days of just moving products have gone. Reality is we are now managing supply chains end-to-end, delivering tailored solutions that save money, increase efficiency and open up new markets.
“The recent investment and recruitment drive is all about giving us the ability to scale quickly with existing and new customers, whilst continuing to offer our sister business Lesters Packaging a first class 3PL service.”
He concluded: “We’re not stopping here either. There are plans in place to look at a second site, potentially in Staffordshire, that will give us even greater coverage in the Midlands and the North.”
