MIY Expo Exhibitor Spotlight: Mintdale Engineering – A Proper Family-Run British Precision Manufacturer

Mintdale Engineering

At Mintdale Engineering, we’re a family-run precision engineering business that pairs proper Yorkshire and Derbyshire graft with a friendly, personal service. We invest where it counts, look after our people, and take pride in being the team customers can rely on when the job has to be right first time.

We’ll be exhibiting at the Made in Yorkshire Expo on Thursday 16th October 2025 at the Accu Stadium, Huddersfield.

As part of Made in Yorkshire’s Exhibitor Spotlight series, a member of the MIY team caught up with us to chat about what drives Mintdale, what we’ve been up to, and what’s next.

1) In one sentence – what does Mintdale Engineering do best?

We deliver high-quality precision engineered components through our machining and manufacturing capabilities and a can-do attitude.

Your vision, our solution, your success.

2) What’s the driving mission or purpose behind Mintdale right now?

To remain a family-owned British manufacturer, providing quality precision components with a personal, friendly service. We want customers to feel looked after from first call to delivery.

Or, as the team here like to say, “we get s**t done”!

3) What’s been the biggest milestone in the past 12 months?

The headline is continued investment on the shop floor. Over the last few years we’ve added three Nakamura turning centres and a DMG Mori Seiki milling machine, each arriving in consecutive years. Take a virtual tour of our facility to see our packed machine shop for yourself!

It has been a significant commitment and it’s lifted both capacity and capability.

4) Any exciting developments on the horizon?

2026 marks our 50th anniversary! So whilst we haven’t decided on how and where we’ll be celebrating this incredible milestone just yet, we know that you’ll hear about it when the celebrations come around.

We’re also now in the early stages of working towards AS9100 accreditation, which will open the door to new exciting opportunities in the Aerospace sector. And it goes without saying that we’ll keep strengthening the team and bringing through younger talent, because the next generation matters here.

Meanwhile, the request from Jorja and Jess for an office cat in 2026 is still under review… It doesn’t look promising.

5) Something surprising or little-known about us…

We originally traded as Clowne Precision Engineering, starting out in a double garage with one lathe and a Parkson milling machine.

Today we’re into the fourth generation, with female family members joining the business and learning the ropes. Most days we even go home happier than when we clocked in, which probably says everything you need to know about our culture.

Come and meet us at the Made in Yorkshire Expo 2025

We’ll be on stand MIY145 at this year’s Made in Yorkshire Expo, Thursday 16th October 2025, at the Accu Stadium, Huddersfield.

If you’re attending, pop by for a chat. We’ll show you what our machines can do and, more importantly, how we work with customers to get the right result.
