Manufacturers Attend Derby Networking Event for Hybrid Expo
This year's Backing Britain expo included three live networking events for exhibitors and VIPS in Walsall, Derby, and Leeds - 3 key locations for members of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire. Last night marked the second event at Derby FC, members and industry professionals heard from expert speakers on F1, aerospace, and industry 4 technology.
What makes Backing Britain exhibitions stand out from regular trade shows is the fact that it is hosted online. Exclusively for manufacturers and businesses alike, members of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire.
This year's exhibition was like no other with three live networking events in key locations for Made members. The Derby event saw a positive atmosphere throughout the venue, as attendees showed each other their exhibition stands via large digital screens in the room.
The three speakers brought a sense of inspiration to the event, starting with Graeme Hackland, Chief Information Officer at Williams F1, who spoke about the sustainability agenda and history at Williams F1. Followed by Jo Salter, the first female fast jet pilot, who told guests the story of her journey through the RAF and finished with Ian Gardner, Client Technology Lead at IBM, who discussed the urgency for manufacturers to utilise Industry 4 technology.
Guests poured in from 4:30 pm at Derby FC and were welcomed by the opportunity to make a net-zero pledge. This saw manufacturing and engineering professionals sign a badge that was pinned on the net-zero pledge tower to show their commitment to three statements:
- To learn more about sustainability
- To implement what you learn into your business
- Commit to sharing best practices with fellow Made members
For every pledge made and social media post created, Made in Group will donate £15 to the National Trust to plant more trees around the UK.
The evening finished with lots of networking and discussions amongst manufacturing professionals, not forgetting refreshments.
