2022 has been the comeback year for manufacturing after two years of global challenges and supply chain disruptions. From BritishVolt opening the first ever Gigafactory in the UK to SMEs diversifying to meet new market needs, this year is looking to be a successful one for both Britain and its manufacturing industries.

1. Barkley Plastics: Barkley Plastics Injects Diversification and International Opportunities in Expansion Plans

 

 

We may only be in the fifth month of the year, but Barkley has wasted no time when it comes to making change happen. Matt Harwood has become Managing Director, taking over from his father Mark. Partnered with Operations Director Steve Smith, the two have already set their sights on maximising a £120,000 investment in automation and increasing its involvement in medical, construction and white goods.

2. C Brandauer & Co: Brandauer Secures £500k+ funding to develop new lamination technology

 

Leading Metal Pressings Specialist C Brandauer has secured more than £500,000 of funding to help it develop new thin gauge laminates for use in an exciting electrification project. The firm is busy proving out a manufacturing process for creating special stacks used in a new highly sustainable motor for the light commercial vehicle/off-highway sectors.

3. Allied Copper Alloys: Investment Helps Birmingham Coil Processing Facility Increase Capability and Improve Efficiency

 

 

The latest investment into a bespoke cut to length line from Dimeco is helping Birmingham Based Allied Copper Alloys improve their quality, produce parts quicker and increase capability with the opportunity to provide to a wider market sector. The new machine allows the company to cut sheet from the coil in thicknesses ranging from 0.2mm - 3mm, Widths from 12.70mm – 620mm and cuts lengths up to 3,500mm.
